e-Saxophone practice tracker

A course, a fingering chart and a listener for electronic saxophones such as the Yamaha YDS-120 and YDS-150. The app hears what you play, over the USB cable or through the microphone, and keeps your practice history.

Week 1 of 20: Making a steady sound

2026-08-19 to 2026-08-25 · Phase 1: sound · 0 of 20 weeks done

Getting a note to come out the same way twice. Mouthpiece in about a centimetre, lower lip cushioning your teeth, and steady air. Nothing else matters yet.

Goal: Hold G, A, B, C and D for eight slow counts each with the loudness meter staying flat.

  1. Set up an input on the Monitor: the USB cable needs MIDI controller mode on the instrument, or use the microphone and no cable at all
  2. Use Chrome or Edge. Firefox and Safari do not implement Web MIDI
  3. Blow with no keys pressed and press Match to open C#, so the app names notes the way your instrument does
  4. Open Learn and do this week’s exercises
